MSETCL 400KV Substation, Talandge, Kolhapur

on Tuesday 14/01/2025 at 9.30 am to 04.00 pm for S.Y. B.Tech Electrical students

The 400kV Talandge Substation is managed by Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL). Located near Kolhapur, Maharashtra, it is a critical hub in the state’s extra high-voltage transmission network. It steps down power from 400kV to 220kV, 132kV, and 33kV for reliable supply across Kolhapur district and nearby industrial areas.

The substation strengthens grid stability, handles heavy industrial loads, and reduces transmission losses.
Students get exposure to:

  • Operation of 400kV/220kV/132kV/33kV equipment
  • Power transformers, Circuit breakers, CTs, PTs, LA (Lightning Arresters)
  • SCADA systems and modern protection schemes
  • Safety protocols and maintenance practices

This visit helps the students to understand real-world grid operations and prepares them for careers in power and energy sectors.
