Dr. D.Y. Patil, former Governor of Bihar, Tripura and West Bengal, is an established name in the list of revolutionary educationalists and philanthropists in India. He is the founder of D Y Patil Group and one of the top ranked pioneers in the field of Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Hospitality and Sports. Although born in a small agricultural village of Maharashtra, his visionary social & political work has widely reached all corners of the country.

The D.Y. Patil University is a soul bearer of his compassion for change and openness towards modernization. His personality is a blend of humility and compassion. This reflects in his establishments over the last three decades; be it the D.Y. Patil Medical College or the KrishiVigyan Kendra in Kolhapur. He was conferred with the title ‘Padmashree’ by the President of India for his contributions in holistic reforms.

At 83, Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil continues to lead the Indian National Congress from Maharashtra, motivating and guiding us through his undulating efforts for a brighter future of the nation.
